Hey there! Thanks for the insight about your experience with your Sorento - really helpful! For my Carens, there are no warning lights coming on and no strange noises from the engine or elsewhere. Honestly, apart from the A/C issue, the car is running just fine. Regular services were done at the dealership and the last service was done when she hit 75380 km. I haven't had any major issues with her in the past, so this is a bit of a curveball for me. Thanks for your help. Gives me a better idea of what the issue could be. Will take her down to my local workshop soon and see if they've come across this issue before. Cheers!
Hey there again! Good to hear the rest of your Carens is running smooth. Sounds like you've taken good care of her. Given my past experience with my Sorento and your description, it still might be an issue with the individual valves in the A/C system. Your regular services wouldn't typically include checking this part, so the fault could have gone unnoticed. Furthermore, if the A/C is not engaging sometimes like you mentioned, it might be a problem with the compressor. It's pretty much the pump of the A/C system and if it's faulty, your system won't cool or heat as it should, even to the point of blowing just warm air. And even though you got no warning lights, doesn't necessarily mean there isn't a problem somewhere else in the car. I mean, I've seen my share of gremlins in the electrical system that didn't trigger a warning light. So when you take your car to the workshop, ask them to check both the A/C valves and the compressor. The diagnosis should let you know what's really going on. And fingers crossed it's another know issue and you get it fixed for free like I did! Stay strong. Hope this helps and keep us posted on how things turn out for you and your Carens! Cheers!
Hey there! Yeah, I've tried to keep her in top-notch condition! Thank you for your input about the potential valve issue, and the tip about the compressor - I wasn't even thinking about that! You're right about those pesky gremlins. Even though there aren't any warning lights now, I'll make sure to mention it to them at the workshop. Appreciate the heads up on that known issue possibility - that would definitely be a relief to my wallet! Thank you for all your advice. I'll definitely keep you guys posted on what they find out and how it goes. Fingers crossed she'll be back to her cool self soon. Cheers!
Hey, ran into a very similar issue with my 2010 Kia Sorento not long ago. Just to give you a heads up, I’ve only got some car experience – not a pro by any means. Anyway, back to your issue. My A/C was acting up, blowing warm air like yours. Turned out I had defective individual valves in the A/C system. Took it to my local shop, they sorted it in no time, and believe it or not, it didn’t cost me a dime! Apparently, it was a known issue, so they fixed it under some kind of service campaign. Still, with yours being a different model and year, you might want to share a bit more about your car’s specifics. Any warning lights? Strange noises? How's the rest of the car running? Hope that helps a bit!
