Hey! Thanks a heap for your insights. You pretty much nailed it on the head in terms of what I'm seeing with my Equus right now. Bit of a bummer, for sure, but it's good to know I wasn't completely off base about the fuel pressure regulator. By the way, you remember how much that replacement set you back? Don't want to get taken for a ride by the mechanic again, you feel? And ever since the fix, any other issues pop up or has your Genesis been running smooth? Cheers!
Yo! Happy I could help get you in the right direction with that mess. Yeah, we definitely need to keep those mechanics honest, right? So, to fix the error after my fuel filter change, my mechanic charged 45.00 €, which wasn't too bad considering the improvement in performance. And yes, after I got that fuel pressure regulator fixed, my Genesis has been well behaved. I haven't had any issues similar to that again and she's running pretty smooth since then. No more engine stalling or black smoke drama...it's been a nice change. So, my two cents, just nip that fuel pressure regulator issue in the bud it'll be worth it. Drive safe out there!
Hey! Thanks a ton. That price sounds pretty reasonable to me. And hearing that your Genesis has been behaving well post-repair definitely puts my mind at ease. Alright then, I'm going to take your advice and get that fuel pressure regulator checked out pronto. No more dealing with this black smoke circus and the engine stalling. I'll try to get it sorted as soon as possible. Appreciate your words of wisdom stay safe on the road!
Hey there! I feel you. I had something similar when I was driving my 2015 Hyundai Genesis around the same mileage. It was same issue as yours, the black smoke, rough engine, crappy gas mileage... it was a real pain. Turns out the issue was indeed with the fuel pressure regulator, just like you suspected. The mechanic explained to me that this little component controls the flow and pressure of fuel going to the engine, and when it malfunctions, it can cause all the symptoms you described. In my case, the mechanic had to replace the entire fuel pressure regulator for sure. I'm glad I got it fixed, because it can be quite serious stuff. Unchecked, it can clog up the engine with carbon deposits, leading to poor performance, and can even damage the engine in the long run. Especially if you're seeing black smoke from the exhaust, that's not good at all. So, take it to a trusted mechanic and have it checked out. You'll thank yourself later. Good luck!
