Hey there! I can't express enough how relieved I am after hearing your story. The symptoms you described are spot on with what I'm going through, minus the bucking bronco part, haha. All signs are pointing to that waste gate valve then it seems. Just out of curiosity, do you remember roughly what the damage was to your wallet after the fix? Was there anything else the mechanic picked up on or needed attention? Just preparing myself for the worst, but hoping for the best. Thanks again for your help, really appreciate it!
Hey again! Glad to see that my story gave you some relief! About your questions - yep, remember that vividly. The waste gate valve wasn't exactly a golden goose to fix, but it was worth it for the peace of mind afterward. The bill came in at around 860€ give or take. It wasn't exactly cheap, but it certainly wasn't the priciest car repair I've ever had. And on the mechanics picking up something else - yeah actually, the guy did find something else while he was poking around in there. Turns out the initial suspicion about a faulty boost pressure sensor wasn't far off. He managed to sort that out while he was there too, before it turned into a major headache. Trust me if it saves you from stalling out at a red light, it's worth every penny! Good luck hope it goes smoothly for you!
Hey! That's some unexpected reassurance right there. Knowing the rough estimate helps. I expected to hear a heart-stopper, but 860€ is manageable, considering it'll extend my ride's lifespan. Really glad you mentioned about the boost pressure sensor too. I'll definitely ask the mechanic to have a look at that as well. Can't tell you how grateful I am for your input! Heading to the garage tomorrow, fingers crossed I'll get a good mechanic who knows his stuff like yours did. Will update you on how it goes. Thanks again! Cheers!
Hey! I feel your pain! Experienced something similar with my 2014 Hyundai Sonata, and just as you described, she behaved like a bucking bronco on steroids. At first, I suspected the boost pressure sensor like you, but turned out it was the waste gate valve that was causing all the huff and puff. It's a key part of the turbo system and regulates the flow of exhaust gas into the turbocharger. A defect can cause some serious performance issues, just like what you're experiencing now: shaky idling, black smoke, stalling, power loss and some gruesome sounds. My last visit to the garage was pretty straightforward. The mechanic diagnosed the problem, removed the faulty waste gate valve, and replaced it with a new one. The car felt good as new afterward, so I'll definitely recommend getting this checked. Remember, a simple checkup now can prevent a huge headache down the line. After all, it's always better being safe than sorry! Cheers!
