2010 Toyota Vios Displaying Warning Lights and Speedometer Issues

Warning light in the speedometer of the vehicle

Error in the lighting

Hey guys, I've got a bit of a head-scratcher here with my 2010 Toyota Vios running on petrol with around 58947 km on it. Starting to have some funky light issues - getting some error signs and my speedometer warning light's up. I'm guessing could be some bulb problem but I'm no mechanic and my last one left me with more problems than I started off with. Anyone else had similar gremlins? What did your mechanic say? Would appreciate any advice before I head back into the belly of the beast - if you take my meaning. Cheers!

Hey there, I totally get what you're dealing with. I had similar haunting issues with my 2013 Toyota Corolla a while back. From my experience, your initial guess about some bulb problem might not fully cover it. My issue turned out to be a defective cable connection to the lamp. The mechanic at the garage pointed out that my speedometer warning light was up due to this. It wasn't a bulb failing but rather the actual connection to it. You see, the defective cable messed with the lamp's functionality, sparking those error signs and light issues. You might think it’s a serious issue but from my experience, it wasn't anything major. The mechanic had to simply replace the faulty cable and reconnect everything properly. It was more of a tedious process rather than a serious problem, a few hours job at most. So, before you head to the garage, this could be a route you'd like to suggest to your mechanic. Trust me; it does sound more daunting than it is. All the best with the fix!

Hey, thanks for sharing your own troublesome tale! It's enlightening to hear it might not just be a bulb issue but a more tedious cable problem. Honestly, you've given me a new angle to approach my mechanic with. Just curious do you recall how much you had to cough up for this cable replace fix? And has any other weird light stuff or any other problem cropped up since your visit to the mechanics? Cheers!

Hey! Glad my story could give you a bit of insight! When it came to the dreaded cost, it set me back around 180.00 €. Truth be told, it was a bit of a sting at the time but well worth it for the peace of mind in the long run. Plus, considering it wasn't a major component of the car, it felt more or less in line with what I was expecting. Since seeing my mechanic and getting the cable connection to the lamp fixed, there's been no light show, or any other funny business for that matter. Actually, turns out the bulb was just fine - it was the pesky cable messing things up. Seems like my 'Toyota spirit' is now back to her usual, reliable self! Hope that clears things up for you a bit. Don't stress too much about it. Cheers!

Thanks for getting back so promptly with your experience! Hearing your ´Toyota spirit´ returned to normal after the fix-up eases my nerves quite a bit. Plus that cost, though a sting as you said, is manageable if it gets things back to normal. Here's hoping my journey to the mechanic will turn out just as sound as yours and I won’t face any other funk. I ought to go isolate that pesky cable and lay it to rest just like you did. I really appreciate your advice. Cheers!
