Hey there! Cheers for sharing that. Sounds like a heck of a time you had with your GS Hybrid. Had no clue that the ECU could kick up such a fuss, but makes sense now you spell it out. Just wondering though, do you recall approximately how much it set you back to get the ECU replaced? And have you had any similar issues crop up since then, or was that the end of it? Thanks again for your insight. Much appreciated!
Hey, no worries! Happy to share some insights. So, about the cost, the ECU replacement did burn a bit of a hole in my pocket. It cost me around 1000€, which I reckon could vary slightly depending on where you get it done. And here's the good news - since I got that control unit fixed, my gorgeous hybrid's been running as smooth as silk, no more 'check engine' light, no mad dash lights, and even the navigation came back. So, in my case, that was indeed the end of the boogie-woogie. Looks like the mechanic did a good job after all, got that incorrect coding glitch sorted! That's been my experience. Hoping yours goes just as smooth. All the best with it! Cheers!
Hey, thanks for getting back so quick! Your figure sounds steep, but if it got your beaut running fine and fair dinkum... it might be worth it! Cheers for your heads up on this. Gonna chalk it to experience and see a proper mechanic soon. Hoping that's the last of me 'car trouble' saga! Thanks again! Really appreciate it. Good on ya!
Hey, had a similar encounter with my '06 Lexus GS Hybrid few years back. The onboard diagnostics showed a "Control unit faulty" issue. Was a bit of a nightmare! The navigation and other electronics were playing up just like you described. Turned out, the issue was with the electronic control unit (ECU). The ECU is like the brain of your car. It handles everything from engine performance to your navigation system. Last time at my garage, they had to replace the ECU. Yep, you heard it right, replace. Luckily, no major mechanical work was needed, just a plug-in play sort of thing, but a crucial part nonetheless. It's supposed to last the life of the car, but nothing's bulletproof, eh? Check it out with a trusty mechanic (not just any bloke with a wrench, though), and see what they say. If it is a faulty ECU, you’ll want to get that sorted pretty fast. Good luck, hope it turns out smooth for you! Cheers!
