2009 Kia Soul Windscreen Heating Issues and Stored Fault Concerns

Heated windows without function

|

Fault stored

Hey everyone, I'm really hoping someone can help me out. My 2009 Kia Soul (gasoline engine, 33500 KM on the clock) has been acting up. The windscreen heating seems restricted and the windows are staying foggy no matter what I do. On top of that, I've discovered a stored fault. I had a pretty bad experience at the mechanics last time I went, so kinda hoping to gather some intel before going back. Anyone have a similar issue? Any advice on how to handle this would be super appreciated. Cheers!

Hey, had similar shenanigans with my 2012 Kia Optima. Turned out to be a battery issue. Lights, heating, and all that jazz rely on the battery, so figured it out when the foggy windows didn’t clear up either. Thought it was a heater issue first but nah, it was the battery. Not a major hitch like transmission failure or anything, but still not your run-of-the-mill routine stuff. Had to replace the battery as it was empty and weak. Keep in mind that it could be something else for you, but it's worth checking the battery out. Hope this helps, and good luck.

Hey, that's a good shout, never thought a faulty battery could be causing these weird window issues in my Kia Soul. Appreciate you sharing your experience. If you don't mind me asking, do you remember about how much did the repair cost you? And has something like this, or anything else out of ordinary happened to your car since you got it fixed? Cheers in advance.

Hey there, happy to share more. So, I shelled out around 290 Euro to replace the battery and it resolved the focusing problem. Since then my Kia's windscreen heating function is back to its prime, no more foggy windows or any of that sort - just clear skies all the way. As for other odd stuff, nothing really strange has happened since the fix. She's been running pretty smooth and I haven't encountered any more issues like before. I think getting the battery sorted was the key. Mind you, cars could get quite unpredictable sometimes but fingers crossed, she'll keep behaving! All the best with your Kia Soul. Hope things work out for ya.

Hey, really appreciate your advice and kind words. I'm feeling a bit more easy now knowing yours was just a battery issue and not something more severe. I suppose I'll pop over to the mechanic tomorrow to get that checked out. You're right, cars can be unpredictable but I'm holding out hope that it's something as simple as a battery replacement. Anyway, thank you for taking the time to respond and help out. Hope your Kia keeps running smoothly! Cheers!
