Hey there, Appreciate the quick response! Your input really makes me feel less alone in this whole 'car issue' labyrinth. Your 2006 Optima and my 2009 Magentis are somewhat close, huh. I'm really hoping that the cable is the culprit here too. How the mechanic didn't catch this last time is just beyond me... but anyways, your experience gives me strong ground to suspect the cable/control unit. Just curious, do you remember what the damage to your wallet was for the fix? And since the repair, have you run into any other problems since? Thanks again for your help. Cheers!
Hey no worries, happy to help a fellow Kia owner out! Like your Magentis, my Optima also had the warning light and overheating issue resolved once the cable was fixed, and thankfully, there haven't been any more problems since. The old mechanic must've overlooked this issue, but now with a bit of hindsight and a new one on the job, the additional water pump is functioning like a charm again! As for the cost of mending that faulty cable on the pump/control unit - it set me back about 225€. So keep that in mind when you bring your car in. Since then, everything has been running pretty smooth. Good luck with your ride and fingers crossed you have the same positive outcome as I did! Cheers!
you've been a lifesaver! Thank you for throwing light on this. The cost estimation also helps me to keep a check on the final bill. According to your experience, it's really high time I get my Magentis checked especially that cable and water pump unit. Really glad to hear your Optima has been running smoothly after the repair, I hope mine follows suit after the fix. Legit thanks for sharing your issue and the solution, it's been truly handy. Will surely update you after my mechanic visit. Stay awesome and cheers!
Hey! Yeah, sounds a bit like what I experienced with my 2006 Kia Optima. Not exactly the same year, but close enough, right? Had a similar warning light and overheating problem. My coolant level was also on the low side. Turned out my issue was the cable on the pump/control unit was defective. The mechanic said it was serious because it could potentially cause a total breakdown if I didn't get it sorted promptly. So if yours is like mine - you better handle it ASAP. Anyway, they had to replace the defective cable and do some checks to make sure there was no damage to the control unit. After that, things went back to normal. I'd say get a professional to take a look definitely not something you wanna overlook. Cheers!
