Hey there, that's a bit of a coincidence! Your problem sounds like a mirror image of mine - guess I'm not alone in my plight huh? Sounds like quite the enterprise to fix though, literally stripping the car to the bones, yikes! Quick question if you don't mind - do you remember how much you forked out for the whole repair? Just want to brace my bank account for a possible hit. And one more thing, has anything else cropped up since you've had this fixed or has it been smooth sailing? Cheers!

Hey, it's still a smooth ride, got to say, especially after seeing the mechanic. That pesky Message error between control devices was taken care of, and my Volvie is back to its old self. Wish I could tell you it was a cheap fix but, unfortunately, that's not the case. Remember I told you that they had to strip down the interior and sort out those damaged optical fibers? Well, they called it fixing the CAN BUS or MOST bus, and the bill hit me with a 235€ punch. It wasn't fun parting with that cash, but it definitely got my car back in working order, so it was worth it in the end. I haven't seen any new problems cropping up since then. The boat's been sailing smoothly, knock on wood. Good luck with yours!

Hey, thanks for the reply! That piece of info about the CAN BUS fix was particularly useful. I appreciate your honesty about the cost, too - 235€ is a bit of a punch indeed, but I'd rather get it sorted correctly. It's a relief to know that your slightly older model hasn't picked up any new bugs after being patched up. Fingers crossed my C30 decides to follow in your S40's footsteps post-fix. Cheers for the solid advice, and here's hoping my journey down this road is as smooth as yours has been!

Hey, small world. I drive a 2005 Volvo S40, petrol engine. Had a similar situation last year myself, with the navigation system and sound system going completely silent. It turned out to be a snag with my MOST bus. The mechanic took a look and figured there was a communication issue between control units. Fixing it was a bit of technical stuff, they had to trace the bus system, reset the whole thing and replace a couple of damaged optical fibers. Took a bit of time too. They had to strip the whole interior to locate the issue, so I'd consider it as a pretty serious bit of work. Good luck with yours!
