Hey, I've got to say, your experience sounds all too familiar! That gives me a bit of hope actually, fingers crossed it'll be the same fix for my Serena as it was for your X-Trail. Speaking of which, do you remember approxily how big a dent that "thorough cleanup" and gear oil replacement made to your wallet? Also, have any other problems popped up since then? Cheers!

Hey, Glad to know my experience has given you some hope. As for the damage that fix did to my wallet, I had to part ways with 365€ to get the gear oil sorted. It stung a bit, but trust me, it was worth every penny. Since the mechanic got the worn out transmission fluid sorted, it's been plain sailing with no other issues coming up. Just make sure your mechanic does a thorough job of it, and hopefully, your Nissan Serena will run as smoothly as my X-Trail has been. All the best!

Hey there, Now that I've got a ballpark figure, I can brace my wallet a little better before I hit up the mechanic. Thanks for the heads-up! Yeah, I also hope my Serena will be back on its wheels without any hitches just like your good ol' X-Trail. I'll keep my fingers crossed and hope for the best. Take care, and cheers for sharing your experience!

Hey there, I can definitely feel where you're coming from. I drive a 2011 Nissan X-Trail, so we're pretty much in the same boat. Last year, I faced a similar issue, the ABS wasn't performing up to par. After some scouting around and the dreaded visit to the mechanic, it turned out my hunch was right - the gear oil was indeed worn out. Though it was a bit of a headache, it's not like we're talking about a dead engine or a faulty transmission. Getting it all sorted was mostly about a thorough cleanup, replacing the gear oil, and an overall system check-up to ensure nothing else was amiss. Really wasn't too convoluted - a bit of time at the garage and my ride was smooth sailing again. So yeah, definitely check the gear oil. It might just save you from another 'nightmare' at the mechanic's. Good luck!
