Hey! That's a sigh of relief - someone who's walked the same road! Yeah, these steel companions of ours can be real mystery boxes at times, right? You mentioned the crankcase vent valve and oil separator hose as the primary offenders. Wondering how much it set you back to fix 'em? Also, has any other related issue popped up since you got it all fixed? Fingers crossed my Tribute can bounce back like your MX-5. Cheers!
Hey! Good to hear back from you! I feel your pain, these machines can throw us for a loop at times. But hey, it's all part about being a car enthusiast, eh? Right, so to answer your questions about the repair costs, it ran me approximately 360.00 € to get the Crankcase Ventilation sorted out. That included all the works - the replacement of the vent valve and oil separator hose and labor. And to your other query, since the mechanic had a look at it and did his magic, it's been all good. The ol' Mazda has been humming along nicely like her old self. No other ventilation related issues since then, thank god! So, keep the faith! With a little luck, your Tribute will be back on her four wheels, purring along in no time! All the best!
Cheers for getting back to me so quick! That price doesn't sound too shabby, considering it gets my Mazda back to her former glory. I appreciate the assurance that post-fix issues haven't really hassled you after the crankcase ventilation was handled. Your words have given me some well-needed hope and a direction to work with. Gonna take my Tribute to a reliable mechanic and get that vent valve and oil separator hose looked at pronto. I'll let you know how it goes. Thanks again, and keep enjoying the smooth rides with your MX-5. Catch ya later!
Hey there, You're definitely not alone. I've got a 2005 Mazda MX-5 and I faced some similar issues a while back. The poor ol' gal was also showing me the engine light and being all jumpy during acceleration. Turns out, you're right! It was the Crankcase Ventilation that was defective. Used to cause the engine to work harder, which explained the poor fuel efficiency too. A good mechanic recognized it right off the bat. First, he checked the system for clogged lines or components. Then he went on to replace the crankcase vent valve and oil separator hose which were the main culprits. Was it serious? Sorta, in the sense that if I'd ignored it for longer, it could have caused some hefty engine damage over time. But getting it sorted when I did, seemed to do the trick and she's been running smooth since. It's always a bit of a mystery when our steel buddies start acting up, ain't it? Anyways, hope your Tribute gets fixed up nice and easy. Cheers!
