Hey! Your experience sounds a bit too familiar to mine. Spotting those metal shavings gave me a real scare. Had to get my system flushed out and oil filter replaced too, just like you. I was just curious, do you remember how much you had to shell out to get everything fixed? Ever since I got mine sorted, everything seemed to be chugging along nicely. Except, now there's this unusual clicking noise and it's pretty annoying, did you come across something similar by any chance after your fix?
Hey! Good to know you got that sorted. I remember when I had to deal with the same fiasco, the whole engine-oil switcharoo cost me 175€. Not the most fun I've had, but it was sure worth it to avoid further mayhem. As for the incidental clicking noise, can't say I've experienced that post-fix. Maybe it's something minor but you know the drill, better safe than sorry, so might be worth having it checked out. Stay safe on the road!
Hey, thanks for all the advice and sharing your experience! It's reassuring to hear that someone else has faced a similar mess and managed to overcome it. Looks like I got lucky with the oil issue, just like you did. As for the clicking noise, I reckon I'll pop by the mechanic's once again. Not thrilled about it, but you're right - better safe than sorry. Cheers for the help! Safe driving to you too.
Hey! Seeing signs like flickering oil light and metal shavings in your oil does indeed point towards an oil issue. I ran into a similar problem with my 2005 Lexus SC a while back. Turned out, I'd been filling it up with the wrong engine oil. Reckon it wasn’t properly lubricating the components, hence the metal shavings. The warning light you've got could be down to low oil pressure, especially if your oil's not up to spec. You'd definitely want to have it checked pronto. As for my experience, it was a bit of a mess. The mechanic had to fully flush the system, replace the oil filter, and fill up the engine with the recommended oil. Was it a serious issue? Yeah, in a way. If I had let it carry on, it could've led to engine failure due to the parts grinding against each other. Luckily, I caught it before it did any serious damage. It's never a fun experience to have engine troubles, especially if you've had bad experiences with your mechanic before. My advice? Get it checked out sooner rather than later. Hope your ordeal turns out to be less dramatic than mine!
