2008 Kia Bongo Fails to Start: Suspected Parking Heater Issue

Car won't start

Hey everyone, I'm having a bit of a problem with my 2008 Kia Bongo (Gasoline Engine, 115946 KM mileage). The darned thing just won't start! I've got a nagging suspicion that my Parking heater might be on the fritz. I had a pretty rubbish experience with my mechanic during the last visit, so I'm a bit wary this time around. Has anyone else faced a similar issue or have any insider knowledge about dealing with this? Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Hey there! I drive a 2011 Kia Sorento, so I kinda feel your troubles. Last winter, I faced a similar issue as yours but it turned out to be my Glow plug being defective, not the Parking heater. You see, before my Kia refused to start, I ignored a warning light on my dashboard that indicated a glow plug fault. It's wasn't mechanical apocalypse, but it's a serious issue alright. I remember it took a couple of days for the mechanic to fix things as it needed a bit of a disassembly to reach and replace the glow plug. However, as you mentioned about your suspicion regarding the Parking heater, it may also contribute to the starting issue. The best scenario is to find a reliable mechanic who can diagnose properly if it's the Parking heater, Glow plug, or something else. But yeah, my issue was about a faulty Glow plug. So don't wait till it gets worse. Get it checked and hopefully, it's a minor issue that gets solved quickly. Best of luck to ya!

Hey there! Thanks for the heads-up. Your experience with the Glow plug issue really gave me a new perspective. I never even had that on my radar. It's interesting how these different parts can be linked to the same problem of not starting up. I definitely need to find a better mechanic who can properly differentiate and pinpoint the root cause. By the way, do you recall roughly how much shellin' out you had to do for fixing that Glow plug issue? And has any other trouble popped up related to this since your repairs? Cheers for the help, bud!

Hey! Yeah, I totally get where you're coming from. It's decently complex how different parts interplay, but finding a good mechanic makes all the difference. In terms of costs, fixing that Glow plug set me back by 560.00 €. A bit steep but worth it considering my Kia runs smoothly now. And about the Parking heater you mentioned, turns out, mine was also acting up but got it sorted during the same visit to the mechanic. Haven't had any related troubles since then. Hang in there and cross those fingers that it's an easy fix for you! Keep me posted on how it all pans out, yeah? Cheers!

Hey! I appreciate your prompt response. The complexity of these auto issues is mind-boggling, isn't it? Seems like everything is connected and it takes a pro to figure it out. Cors, 560.00 € sounds like a lot but I'm ready to shell that out if it gets my Kia up and running smoothly again. I'm honestly relieved to hear about your Parking heater issue as well, so at least I know I'm not just imagining things. Fingers crossed! Will surely keep you in the loop. Thanks for the advice and taking the time to share your experiences. It's been a great help! Cheers!
