2008 Audi A4 Diesel: Warning light, uneven engine running and increased fuel consumption

Hi everyone, I'm currently having a little problem with my 2008 Audi A4 Diesel and hope you can help me out. I am noticing some strange symptoms: The warning light is on, there is a lack of engine power, the engine is running rough, there are jerks when accelerating and the fuel consumption is too high. I suspect that the signal from the intake air temperature sensor could be faulty, but I'm not sure. Have any of you had similar experiences and can give me tips on possible causes and troubleshooting? I would be very interested to know how other garages have solved the problem. Thanks for your help!

Hi, I had a similar problem with my 2006 Audi A6. I am not a car expert, but have some experience with cars. It turned out that my intake air temperature sensor was faulty. Took the car to the garage and they replaced the sensor. It cost me 155 euros, but after that the car ran perfectly again. To be able to give you more details, I need some more information about your car. How long has it been since your last service? Are there any other warning lights on? Hope this helps you!

Hey, thanks for the tip! The last service was about 1000 km ago, so fairly recently. No other warning lights come on. It's really just this annoying loss of power and increased fuel consumption. It's possible that it's the intake air temperature sensor. I'll have it checked at the garage and let you know if the problem is fixed. Thanks again!

Hey, no problem, glad if I can help! If the last service was recent, it may well be that the intake air temperature sensor is actually the cause. A defective sensor can lead to an incorrect signal, which in turn leads to a drop in performance and increased consumption. In the worst case, this can even damage the engine, so it's best not to wait too long and have it checked in the workshop. In any case, let me know when you know more. It would be interesting to hear whether the workshop says the same. See you then and good luck solving the problem. Hopefully it's nothing too expensive.

Hello, thank you very much for the detailed answer and advice! I will follow your advice and take the car to the garage as soon as possible. Hopefully it really is just the sensor. I'll keep you posted as soon as I know more. See you then and thanks again!
