2007 Hyundai Trajet: Overheating and Low Coolant Issues with Warning Light Indicator

Overheating

Warning light in the speedometer of the vehicle

Coolant level low

Hey! I've got a 2007 Hyundai Trajet with a Gas engine, a mileage of 94291 KM on the clock and I'm a bit puzzled with what's going with it. First off, I've had a dodgy mechanic experience recently which has left me a bit skeptical. My ride's been acting up with a warning light popping up on the speedometer, it's also overheating and the coolant level's been running low too. I'm guessing it's something to do with the low coolant but not 100% sure. Has anyone experienced something similar? Would love to hear about your experience with this issue and how your mechanic dealt with it. Cheers.

Hey! I can relate to your issue. I own a 2010 Hyundai Santa Fe, and I went through something similar a while ago. The same annoying warning light on the dashboard, and yes, the low coolant level was the culprit. The garage guys found my coolant was indeed low, which caused my engine to overheat, triggering the warning light. The problem turned out to be a slow leak in the radiator. They had to patch it up and refill the coolant. You might be dealing with something similar here, assuming it’s not just normal coolant burn-off. It was a bit serious because it could have done some real damage to the engine if left unchecked. Best of luck with your situation, hope it helps!

Hey, your response hit close to home. Seems like our Hyundais have similar symptoms, eh? It's quite the relief to hear that it might just be the radiator and not something more serious. Appreciate you sharing your ordeal. Just out of curiosity, do you happen to remember the hole it burnt in your pocket to fix this issue? And has anything else cropped up related to this ever since? Fingers crossed for a no on that one. Cheers.

Hey, glad to hear my experience could help! As for the hit to the bank account, it wasn't as bad as one might fear. To patch up the radiator and top up the coolant, I was out of pocket by just over 50 quid - €52.5 to be exact. Not exactly small change, but better than a full-blown engine breakdown, yeah? It's been smooth sailing ever since I paid that visit to the mechanic's. The coolant level low issue got nobbled and there have been no further hitches related to that so far - touch wood. I reckon it’s always better to cough up a bit early on than let these gremlins get bigger and wreak greater havoc. Hope your Hyundai club-member treats you just as kindly! Cheers.

Hey! I'm breathing a sigh of relief over here. €52.5 doesn't sound too bad considering what could have happened. Got the jitters thinking about a massive engine repair bill. Great to hear it's been smooth sailing for you since then. Honestly, thanks for calming my nerves a bit with your experience. It's definitely better to cough up the bucks now than face a more hefty repair job in the future. Cheers for all the advice and insight. Gonna take my Trajet to the mechanic asap. Wish me luck! Cheers.
