Hey there, Sounds like your experience was a near mirror of what's going on with my Fiat. Who would have thought? It's reassuring to know that I potentially nailed down the issue though, and sorry to hear that it wasn't just a simple fix for your Punto. An oil pump replacement, huh? Can you remember off-hand how much that set you back? And any other hitches since the oil pump was switched out? Here's hoping my mechanic knows his onions like yours did. Appreciate your help. Cheers!
Hey there, Yep, same song, different verse, huh? For the pump, the whole shebang set me back around €755. Not the nicest surprise, but still better than having a giant paperweight for a car! Since it's been fixed, the car has been running a lot smoother and it seems like the malfunction in the engine oil pressure system was rectified right then and there. I haven’t had any re-runs of that nightmare scenario, touch wood. Fingers crossed your mechanic is as savvy as mine and gets your Fiat sorted! Best of luck. Take care!
Hello, That is a hefty price tag. But you're bloody right, I'd rather shell out €755 than get stuck with a broken car. Here's to hoping my situation goes as smooth as yours did and this pit stop turns out to be an extensive yet final one. Thanks for the heads-up. You really bolstered my courage before I paddle into this mechanical voyage. I'll check back in once the ole Fiat is hopefully sorted. Wish me luck and take care as well! Cheers!
Hello. Funny you should mention it, I've got a 2010 Fiat Punto and had a similar ordeal. That pesky oil light kept coming on and found similar symptoms. I reckon we pinpointed it down to an oil pump defect. My mechanic dove right into it and confirmed my suspicion. It was kind of a serious issue, especially the metal shavings - they're a clear sign of significant wear. The buzzing and odd sounds were a result of poor lubrication from low oil pressure. I'm afraid your suspicions might be right. They had to replace the oil pump entirely. Not a quick fix, but certainly prevents further damage. Thankfully, my chap at the garage was a real gem, knew his stuff. Have a chat with your mechanic about my experience, it might clue him in even further. Hope it all goes smoothly for you. Cheers!
