2006 Seat Cordoba Heater/Cooler Malfunction: Seeking Advice and Experiences

Insufficient Cooling/Heating

|

Blower does not work properly

Hey! I've got a 2006 Seat Cordoba, diesel engine, clocked up 199,854 KMs. Lately, the heating/cooling system's been misbehaving as it doesn't cool or heat up as it should, plus the blower has been acting weird. I got this hunch that it could be due to a faulty electric auxiliary heater. Wasn't that happy with my last visit to the mechanic, so I'm a bit hesitant to return. Anyone here experienced something similar? How was your mechanic experience regarding this problem? Cheers in advance for any tips or advice!

Hey there, I totally feel you on this! I got a 2008 Seat Toledo and went through something eerily similar not so long ago. The heating was starting to play up, and I had a feeling it was the electric auxiliary heater just like you thought. Had it checked out at the garage and it turned out to be exactly that. The heater was defective, and they had to replace the entire unit. It's not exactly a trivial job - it took a bit of time to sort out but in the end, the heater started working just like it should. Was it a serious issue? Yeah, I'd say so. Without a properly working heater you'll find yourself in trouble during colder months and it won't be comfortable during longer trips either. So my advice would be to get it checked ASAP. Even though visits to the garage can be a pain sometimes, it's worth getting your ride back in good nick. All the best with it!

Cheers for the speedy reply! Heck, I was hoping it wouldn't be a major issue, but it looks like the auxiliary heater thing hits the nail on the head. You've indeed been on a similar boat, so mind telling me how much it set you back when you had it fixed? And since getting it sorted, any other heater-related problems crop up? Might not be stoked about another trip to the garage but hey, better safe than sorry, right? Appreciated your advice heaps!

G'day! You're bang on with the 'better safe than sorry' mindset. Regarding your questions - yes, fixing this beast did cost a bit. 350.00 € it was, to be precise. I know it's substantial but think about cruising around all toasty while others are shivering in their cars during those cool months; it's worth it. Since getting it fixed by my trusty mechanic, who by the way did an ace job, I've had no other heater-related issues. The repair totally sorted out the electric auxiliary heater malfunction. In fact, the beast is purring along quite well, and I must say it's been worth every penny shelled out. So whether you're chuffed about a garage visit or not, getting your ride back in good health is crucial. Besides, once it's all sorted, you'll surely breathe a sigh of relief. Good luck and keep your chin up!

Good on ya! Thanks for giving me the specifics on the cost, it isn't as bad as I was expecting. I guess peace of mind and snug drives are pretty priceless in the end, eh? Plus the assurance that no other issues have cropped up since is reassuring. £350.0 isn't small change, but to having a fully functioning heater is worth it's weight in gold. Your response's knocked off few things on my mind, cheers for that! Sure not a fan of garage visits, but gotta do what's best for my faithful ride. Thanks for lifting my spirit, gonna book a mechanic appointment straight away. Fingers crossed and hoping for smooth sailing - or should I say, "cool driving"!
