Hey! You're a lifesaver, I seriously thought I was the only one dealing with this. Your experience with your Mazda Bongo sounds bang on to what I've encountered! Much relieved that it turned out to be a mere cable adjustment for you, that gives me hope. If you don't mind me asking, how much did this fixing up tear a hole in your wallet, exactly? And have you had any other related issues or strange behavior since? Really appreciate your help!
Hey! No worries at all, happy to help! Glad to hear my experience may be giving you some hope, cars can truly be beasts at times, huh? As for the cost, it was fairly reasonable, considering the headache it solved. I was only out 155€ to get that cable connection to the sensor sorted out. And honestly, it's showed no signs of giving up again since the fix. Knocking on wood here, but since the mechanic got rid of that pesky communication issue with the steering angle sensor, my Mazda Bongo's been behaving quite well. It's like the faulty sensor was the root of all weirdness, and gets rid of it pretty much smoothed everything out. Hope your Mazda BT fares just as well. Drive safe!
Hey there, You have no idea how much of a relief your words are! 155€ sounds more than reasonable, I was expecting a much heavier hit to my wallet. Let's hope my mechanic comes up with a similar figure. And I can definitely relate to the weirdness - you start with one unusual issue and then suddenly you're down a rabbit hole, right? Good to know your Bongo's been behaving well since the fix, gives me faith that there's light at the end of this tunnel. I'm feeling much more relaxed about my upcoming trip to the mechanic now. Can't thank you enough for your advice. Wish you good luck too, and happy driving!
Hey there, It's wild you mention this, as I've had a similar issue with my 2003 Mazda Bongo Diesel. Out of nowhere, my ABS warning lamp started lighting up, and my airbag warning sign was on consistently. After a quick diagnosis, it turned out that the cable connection to the sensor was defective. Just as you said, the mechanic found out it was a communication problem with the steering angle sensor. The cable connection had been disrupted, and it required prompt fixing to restore the sensor functionality. Thankfully, it wasn't a serious issue but definitely needed immediate attention to avoid more costly repairs down the line. The repair involved adjusting and reinforcing the cable connections to the sensor. Best thing, it all worked out and hasn't been a problem since. When you take your car to the garage, mention this to the mechanic. They'll probably know the way around it. Hope this helps out!
