Hey there! your story gives me some relief, you've been there and done that! The whole DSC/ABS Control Unit fault is a bugbear I hadn't considered. Your experience with your mechanic also sounds way better than mine last time around! Just out of curiosity, do you remember how much you shelled out for replacing your control unit? Also, have you had any related or unrelated issues since that repair was done? Cheers!
Hey! Yeah, dealing with car issues can be a bit of a pain but we get through it, right? So about the DSC/ABS Control Unit fix, it did set me back a bit – the whole fix was around 1000€. But hey, you gotta do what you gotta do to keep the machine running smooth, right? And since you asked, I haven’t seen any other related issues pop up since the repair. And oh, on the side note, remember the worn-out brakes you were talking about? I had something similar and got it fixed during my visit to the mechanic. Just to say, even though the faults may not be quite the same, your car might need some brake attention too. So, it's probably worth getting the brakes checked out while you're dealing with the DSC/ABS control unit. Good luck with your car hope all goes well!
Hey again! Thanks for all your help, honestly, it's been really valuable. It's hard swallowing that thousand-euro pill but, as you say, if it's what the car needs, it's what it gets! I’m thankful since you've shared your experience and it definitely has given me a good starting point to discuss with my mechanic. About the brakes, absolutely understood, the sound advice has been noted. I'll make sure to get 'em checked along with the DSC/ABS control unit. Seems like a visit to the mechanic beats having issues out on the road. Take care bud and thanks again!
Hey! I can totally feel your vibe there. I've got this '09 Kia Sorento, right around 145k km, and the same issue hit me not so long ago. Started with a unusual warning light popping up on my speedometer. When I took it to my mechanic, it turned out as DSC/ABS Control Unit fault, not worn out brakes as I initially thought. I gotta tell ya, I was all kinds of surprised. But thankfully, it's not something that happens very often. It's actually quite a rare glitch. My mechanic handled it like a pro. They worked efficiently, had to replace the whole control unit, and double checked to ensure all was good. It was a bit of a serious issue, to be frank. The entire process took a couple of days, but once finished, my old ride ran like a champ again. Remember though, diagnostics can vary, so it might turn out to be something else for you. But hey, just sharing my experience right. Hopefully, it helps a little. Peace out and good luck with your Sportage!
