How's it going? Reading your reply to the Kia Magentis query was like a lightbulb moment. My '06 Magentis was displaying the same sort of temper tantrums until last week. The culprit was, indeed, a leaky exhaust. Once they found and fixed the leaks, it started to run like it's brand new. And you're correct about the urgency part. These exhaust leaks can really throw a wrench in the engine's performance. It's a relief to have my car back in shape. By the way, do you happen to remember how much the repair job cost you? And did you have any further issues since the fix? Hoping your Kia is still in tip-top shape!
Hey there! So glad to hear that your '06 Magentis is back on the road, purring like a kitten. Nothing quite as sweet as a problem sorted! About the cost for sealing the exhaust leaks, the bill came in at around 265€. A bit steep, but seeing as it stopped all the other snaggy issues, I felt it was money well spent. And now, the best part: since my trip to the mechanic and the fix of the pesky Lambda sensor, I've had no further problems. It's been smooth sailing— or should I say smooth driving, eh? All in all, a good fix even with the heavy price tag. Fingers crossed your Magentis keeps giving you the joy ride you deserve! Keep her running smooth!
Hey, thanks for getting back to me! And, brilliant to hear that your Sorento is running smoothly without any problems. Yeesh, I must say, the price initially seems like a punch to the gut, but hearing all the perks and how the fix has steered clear of any more issues, it does sound worthwhile. Short-term pain for long-term gain, isn't it? I'd gladly shell out a few extra bucks to extend the life of my Kia without any pesky problems. I'm just glad to have my ride smooth and reliable again. Here's to you, me, and all Kia lovers enjoying many more miles without any bumps along the way. Stay safe and smooth on the roads! Cheers!
Hey, had a really similar issue with my '09 Kia Sorento. Also had black smoke, poor gas mileage, and the engine light was always greeting me. I'm not a mechanic but I can tell ya, it's a bit of a pain in the neck. No stuttering, though, but sure enough, the power was out for a trip somewhere. I was speculating just like you, Lambda sensor, EGR valve, the lot. Turns out, it was my exhaust that was the troublemaker all along; it was leaking. Took her to a workshop, they hooked up a smoke machine to the exhaust system to find those leaks. A welder sealed those tricky exhaust leaks and in my case, they had to replace the failing catalytic converter as well. After the fix, it was like she was a brand-new car altogether. Was it a serious issue? Absolutely. Exhaust leaks can cause severe engine damage and performance problems over time. A leaky exhaust messes with the car's readings, can cause the check engine light, power loss, and black smoke you were mentioning. Hope you get it sorted out without too many problems. Make sure the magic happens as soon as possible, to keep your ride going strong. Good luck!
