2006 Hyundai Accent GPS Connection Problem and Potential Antenna Issue

No GPS connection

Hey! I'm having a bit of an odd issue with my 2006 Hyundai Accent with a gasoline engine. Noticed recently I can't connect to GPS at all. My first guess is maybe I got a faulty GPS antenna? Has anyone else encountered this? How did your mechanic fix the problem and what was your experience like? All advice appreciated!

Hi! I've come across something similar with my 2008 Hyundai Elantra a while back. Guess we're in the same boat. I don't claim to be an automotive expert, but I do tackle some jobs on my own car now and then. When my GPS went kaput, I took it to my faithful local garage. We quickly found out that it was indeed a defective GPS antenna. The folks there were able to replace it fairly swiftly. Set me back by around €200, but it solved the problem. Just to make sure I can provide better help, mind sharing if you have any modifications on your Accent? It could be aftermarket additions or even software updates. Cheers!

Hey there, thanks for sharing your experience! It's a bit comforting to know I'm not alone on this boat ride. No significant mods on my Accent really, just basic maintenance. Last service was at 42568 KM, and everything was running smooth. Might take your advice and head to a local garage to check on that GPS antenna. €200 isn't too bad if it's gonna fix the problem. Cheers for the advice, appreciate it!

Hi again! Good on you to keep your Accent mostly stock, that definitely simplifies diagnosing issues. Since you haven't got any major modifications, there’s a good chance it is indeed the antenna, like in my Elantra. I'd suggest you go ahead and have it checked. You don't want to end up lost in the middle of nowhere because your GPS isn't working, right? Though it did set me back a couple of hundred Euro, I had peace of mind knowing that my GPS was running smoothly again. Keep me posted on what happens, yeah? Always here to help a fellow Hyundai owner! Cheers!

Hey, you're spot on, don't fancy getting lost indeed! Will take your advice to heart and have the GPS antenna checked out at the local garage. I appreciate you lending an ear to my problem and for giving helpful advice. The peace of mind knowing I won't randomly lose GPS signal is definitely worth the bucks. Will let you know how it pans out. Cheers! Always good to know there's someone out there ready to help others out with their car troubles!
