2005 Ford Five Hundred Seat Heating Failure: Seeking Similar Experiences

Seat heating without function

Hey! I've got a 2005 Ford Five Hundred, gas engine, with about 186,741 KM on the clock. Recently, the seat heating gave out - no heat, no matter what. I'm suspicious it's a seat heating fault, but last time at the mechanics ended up a mess. Got anyone out there with the same issue? What was your experience at the garage? Cheers!

Hey! I had a similar situation with my own 2008 Ford Taurus. Seat heater just konked out one frosty morning. No warning, no nothing. Turned out it was a heating mat issue. Not great timing, I can tell you that! Had it sorted at my local garage I trust. It wasn't a tiny fix, they had to remove the seat coverings and replace the heating mat below. Sounded complicated but theyaged it. So, while it was a pain, it wasn’t earth-shattering, vehicle-still-runs-just-fine kind of thing. Best bet is taking it to a decent garage, let them have a good look. Hope this helps, good luck!

Hey there, I've got a Five Hundred too, but a 2006 model. Ran into the same snag with the seat heater. Once the garage got under the seat covers, the problem was quite obvious. Turned out the heating mat was the culprit, exactly as pointed out. So, I'm pretty interested, do you recall the damage to the pocketbook for that repair job at your local garage? Also, has anything else cropped up in that area since the fix? Stay warm!

Hey! Yeah, I do remember how much that bit of car trouble cost me. The total for sorting out the heating mat issue was €390, it's not exactly pocket change, but besides the hit to the wallet, the repair went quite smoothly. Also, to answer your question about any recurring problems in that area, there's been nothing of the sort. That faulty seat heating hasn’t been an issue since I saw the mechanic. All things considered, the service was excellent and, importantly, effective. I can finally enjoy a toasted tush on cold mornings again! Hope your repair goes as well as mine did! Stay comfy and cozy in that Five Hundred of yours!
