Hey, thanks for the response! Your experience with your Mazda6 sounds eerily similar to what I'm currently grappling with. And now that you mention it, the DPF could indeed be the culprit. Having said that, I'm curious - how much did they charge you for the cleaning and regeneration of the DPF when you took your car into the garage? Also, has anything else come up with your car since you got it fixed?
Hey, glad I could help point you in the right direction! So for that DPF cleaning and regeneration job, they had me for 1325.00 €. Not the cheapest day at the garage, but totally worth it considering the issues it was causing. Quick update on my car since I saw the mechanic last time - problem with the boost pressure sensor popped up as well, but that's all sorted now. Since getting that fixed, she's been running as smooth as the day I bought her. So yeah, sorting out these little niggles can make a world of difference! Hang in there!
Wow, that's quite a bit! But if it can restore my car to its old self, I guess it's worth the cost. Interesting to learn that you had an issue with your boost pressure sensor too, later on. I'm glad to hear everything's running smoothly for you now. Really appreciate your responses - they've been significant in giving me a clearer understanding. I'll take the leap and head to the garage for the DPF and possibly the boost pressure sensor check. Fingers crossed, the old girl will be back to her prime soon enough. Cheers for the advice!
Hey, sounds like you're experiencing what I went through a while back with my '06 Mazda6 diesel. Pretty similar symptoms - black smoke, loss of engine power, plus that pesky whistle. The way you're describing it, I wouldn't be too fast to pin it on the boost pressure sensor alone. It could be, but to me it sounds more like a clogged Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF). When I took mine to the garage last time, they had to clean and regenerate the DPF. It was no walk in the park. Though it's routine maintenance stuff, it was causing a whole heap of problems. They also told me that running the engine at low speed for long periods or doing lots of stop/start driving can cause the DPF to clog up because it doesn't get hot enough to burn off the soot particles. Hope this helps. Good luck with it!
