Hey! Thanks for sharing your similar experience with your Fiat Stilo. It's reassuring to know I'm not the only one dealing with dodgy brakes. Properly bleeding the system does sound plausible – I had such a headache last time when I had to deal with a casual mechanic. Completely hear you on the no shortcuts thing. But I'm curious, how hard did this hit your wallet? And also, did any other problems pop up afterward? Hoping this isn't a sign of bigger problems. Thanks again for the advice!
Hey! No worries, glad I could help. The entire repair ordeal for the incorrectly bled brake system set me back by about 90€. Not exactly pocket change, but not a wallet-crusher either, considering it concerned the brakes. Good news post the fix - the signal error coming from the pressure sensor on the brake booster? Sorted. Hasn't shown its ugly face since the visit to the mechanic. So, it seems unlikely that this is a sign of a major sinister issue lurking somewhere in your '01 Marea. Just get that system checked and properly bled, and with a bit of luck, you should be good to go. Keep me posted on how things turn out! Safe driving!
Hey! That's definitely some weight off my shoulders, thanks a bunch. 90€ doesn't sound too harsh for a peace of mind, especially when it's about the brakes. I'm a bit more hopeful knowing your sensor issue was sorted post the brake system bleed - fingers crossed it'll be the same story for my Marea. Got an appointment lined up at a new mechanic this afternoon. I'll take your advice onboard and hopefully get it done right this time. I'll be sure to let you know how it pans out. Thanks again for your help. Safe driving to you too!
Hey there, Sounds like you're in a bit of a bind. I've got a 2004 Fiat Stilo and experienced some familiar brake issues not too long ago. Turns out, my brake system was incorrectly bled - quite similar to your spongy brakes situation. While it may sound pretty serious, it wasn't anything too scary. It was just a considerable oversight during a routine service. The mechanic had to re-bleed the brake system, making sure this time to eliminate any air that may have been trapped inside. Remember, no shortcuts in this process. After the bleed, the brake response was back on point. As for the sensor issue, you could be right, but again, it might be more of a mechanical issue than an electronic one. My advice would be to get it checked out sooner, rather than later, by another mechanic since these brake issues can escalate. My two cents. Hope it works out for you.
