Hey there! Thanks for sharing your experience - does sound pretty darn close to what I'm dealing with. Sounds like a fairly hefty job based on what you've said though, wouldn't really fancy going a week without the good old Galloper. Anyway, since you mentioned the problem's been sorted, do you happen to remember what the hit to your back pocket was like? And has anything else cropped up with the car since then or has it been all smooth sailing?
Hey! Yeah, I can understand not wanting to be without your trusty Galloper for a week. But in my case, it was totally worth it because the problem hasn't popped up again since my mechanic looked into it. As for the damage to the pocket, it came to about 155€. It was for dealing with that pesky cable connection issue. Since then, it's been plain sailing for my Hyundai Santa Fe. I mean, the mechanic totally nailed it, knocked the faulty communication siren issue right on its head. It's been all smooth cruising with my ride since then. Hope this gives you a bit of comfort! Good luck with your Galloper. Keep us updated!
Thanks a ton! Really appreciate your detailed response. €155 sounds like money well spent to ensure peace of mind. This really does give me a confidence boost. I'll be taking the old Galloper into the mechanic's next week and hope I have the same good fortune with it like you did. I'll be sure to keep you all posted on how it goes! Cheers again for the help!
Hey there, interesting predicament you got there. Reminds me of a similar issue I faced with my 2002 Hyundai Santa Fe, quite some time ago. Symptoms sounded almost identical, seemed like a cable connection defect with the alarm system. It turned out to be a pretty serious problem as it was directly affecting the car's communication system. Took it to my local mechanic - good hands, that guy. Found out the alarm system's wiring had some issues which were messing with the siren. He spent a good couple days working on it. Had to remove the whole dashboard to get to the cables, and in the end, he needed to replace some of them. The whole procedure left me without the car for almost a week. But at the end of the day, it did get sorted, and I haven't had a similar problem since. So, don't fret a good mechanic will sort it out for you. Good luck!
