Hey, reading your situation gave me flashbacks. Had a similar glitch with my '07 Nissan Quest. Reading's response, I can relate - changing the crankshaft sensor did the trick for me too. It wasn't exactly a breezy affair getting to it, but once it was swapped out, it was smooth sails from there. Just wondering though, do you recall roughly how much you had to shell out for the fix, ? I vaguely remember what I shelled out, but not the exact amount, and just wondering if it was roundabout the same. And since the fix, have you run into any other issues with your Nissan or has everything been okay? Cheers!

Hey! Just reading your message is like turning back time. My '03 Nissan Altima played the same tricks with me too. As I mentioned before, a crankshaft sensor swap sorted it out, though it wasn't exactly a walk in the park to get to it. About the dough, I had to part with 250 Euro, if my memory serves right. Not exactly small change, but worth every cent considering how smoothly my Altima runs now. But to answer your question about further issues - since having the camshaft-crankshaft position alignment done, my ride's been stellar, not a single glitch to report. Fingers crossed it stays like that! Good luck with your Quest! Cheers!

Hi folks, I do appreciate your timely advice and sharing your experience. The similar situations and your outcomes are making me have a little bit of confidence in this nightmare scenario. I got an appointment with a local garage tomorrow, fingers crossed it's 'just' the crankshaft sensor like with you guys. It's a bit of a hit to the wallet for sure but, as long as it keeps my old '06 Quest on the road safely, I reckon it's money well spent. Hearing both of you lot've had no further issues post-repair, that's definitely eased my anxiety a bit. I'll share my results as soon as I get them. Thanks a ton, fellas! You've all been a great help. Here's to hoping for a positive outcome. Cheers!

Hey there, I totally get your concerns. I have a '03 Nissan Altima and ran into a similar snag a while back. I recall seeing the same symptoms - the dreaded check engine light, unexpected stalling, and power loss. In my case, it was a defective crankshaft sensor causing the trouble. First thing, don't panic. Sort of engines speak out when uncomfortable, and it's good you’re listening. In my scenario, the garage guys ran a full diagnostic and pinpointed the issue to the sensor. They had to remove it and replace it with a new one, I remember it being a fairly annnoying spot to reach. But once replaced, my car felt like new again - the stalling stopped, power was back, and there was no more metal in the oil. So, although it worried me in the beginning and was certainly not the most minor issue, it was resolved as a professional mechanic would. So make sure to find a trustworthy garage for the job. I was on the road again in no time. Good luck with your Quest!
